I didn’t realize X-Men Apocalypse had already been released…. I found out by Wiki-creeping on Olivia Munn after I finished HBO’s The Newsroom (which I really recommend and in which Munn does an awesome job).

The movie was a fairly standard Marvel movie. The cast (both old and new) didn’t disappoint. The new additions (both actor/actresses and marvel characters) were exciting to see. Jean Grey ❤ (portrayed by none other than the awesome Sophie Turner), Storm, Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Angel, Nightcrawler, and Cyclops were all introduced in this installment. Other characters made reappearances, including Quicksilver, who had an epic “save everyone from the huge explosion” scene with a backdrop of Sweet Dreams. And of course, the random Wolverine appearance was a must.

In any case, it was a pretty standard Marvel movie: fun to watch, some good battle scenes, some humor, and some standard Charles Xavier cheesiness. Apocalypse was kind of a lame villain but I saw him as a foil for the other characters. I’d give the movie a 7/10. I look forward to the next installment and seeing more of Phoenix Jean Grey.
